Righto! First blog post FROM Japan, where I will tell about some of my thoughts from when I travelled TO Japan, and the first impressions. A blog post about my first full day in Japan might follow at some point, but for now, head on over to the Gallery, where you see a few pictures :D

As I travelled along on toward Japan, I made some notes on my iPod, which had some different short snippets of info from my trip. Here they are, in chronological order -- do not mind if you do not understand all of them, some may not be directed specifically at YOU ;)

Today, I learned that:

ひらの (Hirano), and quite a few other Japanese, are not very good at English at all -- but very good at catchphrases when I don`t know which words the use ;P
(inside info: Hirano was the girl who sat beside me on the long flight from Copenhagen to Tokyo. She spoke next to no English, but we still managed to have long conversations in broken Japanese -- and we both had dictionaries + EXTREME amounts of willpower ;D )

Japanese toilets are, in fact, SCARY! But... toilet 0, me 1. ...until next time.
(update: ha! figured out how they work!)

The ATM`s in Tokyo airport do not give more than 10.000 ¥ at a time -- I needed 70.000¥... not going to pay for international transaction 7 times...
(inside info; when I got picked up, we swung by the postoffice, where I could get money with my Visa Electron easily)

I have no idea what this shop sells! I wonder what that green squishy thing is... thick squid jelly? Wouldn`t surprise me...
(inside info; I was waiting in the Tokyo terminal, looking at the things for sale in a small shop, with multiple food and gift items)

FJORD!!! Day Two - Isolation fits perfectly with my blank stares right now!
(inside info; sitting for over an hour in at the gate area, with all the Japanese people giving me odd stares once in a while, and everyone being more quiet than a graveyard -- what an atmosphere! ;D)

There are quite a lot of people here, that seem to not have a lot to do! ;D
(inside info; I kept on seeing people, who only had the purpose of holding a sign, which I felt was unfair -- the sign stand manufacturers will go out of business if this keeps up!)

Must tell David about airports sollution to running busses in enclosed spaces...
(inside info; I was sitting on the bus, which was filling with people, getting ready to take us to the plane to Fukuoka, and the bus had backed up to two sucking air vents, which took up all the fumes in the vicinity -- simple, but smart :) )

Japanese people drive like sane people from India
(inside info; well, they are not that bad, but it seems quite chaotic, I feel. Works for them, but still. I guess that is why the speed limit inside town is 30-40kph, and outside 50-60kph)
